Definitely worth the download if you use a win9x box. "Change the things Microsoft didn't want you to." WINTRASHER...........A configuration utility, allows changes to various hidden Win 95/98 defaults, such as the default folders (like "Start-Up"), allows access to virtually all the Windows log files, gives you more back-up options, access to fonts, desktop and start-up options, and does lots more.....(freeware, though a more recent shareware version is also available).....GO THERE!


XCONTROL..........XControl is a shell, desktop and shell customization utility. It is split in to five main sections: Icon Control, Restrictions Editor, Tip Editor, System Engineer and Windows 98 section. Icon Control allows you to edit 34 shell icons that are seen around Windows and explorer. The icons available to edit include the Start Menu icons, Default icons for programs, disk drive and folder icons, network icons, My Computer, Network Neighborhood and Recycle Bin icons, Control Panel, Printers and many more. Also included is the ability to change the amount of colours Windows uses to display icons. Restrictions Editor applet allows you to impose a total of 36 restrictions on Windows, locking out users from certain parts of Windows.All the restrictions are editable individually. Tip Editor edits the Windows 95 Tips of the Day that are displayed when Windows loads. All the tips are editable seperately. Also, you can restore the Tips to their defaults, or restore tips individually. System Engineer has settings which change the operation of Windows. Included in the settings is the ability to change the Startup / shutdown screens, special folder locations, registration information, menu popup speed, setup locations, names of Windows objects, ability to add items to context menus in explorer, show a message at logon, and many more settings.
